When she moved back to Australia after living abroad, she determined that she would make her passion for food and travel her career. She started with demonstration evenings in her Turramurra home, where a range of themed recipes was prepared for small groups that were able to watch the dishes being prepared with a glass of wine, and then taste the final results. Called “Kitchen Jazz”, it has since expanded to include hands-on classes, Sydney food tours and now international food tours, the latest of which is set for May next year.
Continue reading "Kitchen Jazz spices up cooking classes"

From a successful 34 year career as a nurse alongside her active involvement in numerous community groups, she has been a tireless force in the public service for her entire working life. After winning a bi-election which made her the 66th woman in NSW parliament Judy has spent the last 9 years in the legislative assembly championing social issues and public health reform. A woman with very firm convictions, Ms Hopwood had successfully moved her margin from 2.7 percent to 16.5 percent over her time in office, largely due to her focus on public health and lobbying for necessary upgrades and services in her district. However Ms Hopwood has recently declared that she will not stand for Liberal pre-selection in the 2011 state elections.
Continue reading "Public Health Champion steps out of the ring"

Due to recent accidents and fatalities, mobile speed cameras will operate from roadside vehicles from July 19 onwards. The RTA’s Darragh Brennan says cameras will be placed on roads with a known crash history in order to save lives rather than raise revenue. “Mobile speed cameras are recognised internationally as the best practice road safety counter measure to reduce speeding and crashes,” he says. Former Transport Minister David Campbell announced the measures earlier this year, stating that they were necessary to curb speeding drivers and resulting accidents.
Continue reading "Mobile speed cameras set to increase speeding fine revenue"
